Renting a wheelchair at Disney is a great idea for everyone in your party

We always rent a wheelchair at Disney Land, even though our mom doesn't normally use one. She has really bad arthritis in her knees. She normally uses a cane. She walks reeeaallly slow.

We’re a tall family, which means we all have long legs and tend to take long strides. We walk fast.

But when we’re with mom, we all walk reeeaaallly slow together.

There are so many things we can’t do with mom like we used to. It just wears her out if she has to be on her feet all day.

The Disney parks are some of the few places where this actually works to our advantage.

If you or someone you know has a hard time getting around, you know how unusual it is for a wheelchair to be a good thing.

Here’s how to rent a wheelchair at Disney Land and Disney World

When you first get to the park entrances, you rent a wheelchair at the Rental Center near Disneyland's main entrance, or the Stroller Center at Disneyworld. Click to jump to a list of all the places where you can rent a wheelchair at Disney Land and Disney World.

As of this writing, the rental prices are the same at both Disneyland and Disneyworld. A wheelchair rental will cost you $12 for a manual wheelchair, and $50 for an “Electric Convenience Vehicle” (aka a scooter). Both require a $20 deposit that you’ll get back when you return the wheelchair. Be sure not to lose your deposit receipt!

Renting a wheelchair is probably the best money you can spend at the Disney parks.

Go to the front of the line!

"I found out that they give disability passes so you can get to the front of the lines. I'm able to get one because of mine. Comes in handy!" - Sarah D.

The person using the wheelchair, and everyone else in your party, gets a special wrist band.

This wristband allows your entire party to go to the front of every line.

That was so big that I want to say it again:

If someone in your party uses a wheelchair, your entire party gets to skip to the front of every line.
