Downtown Palm Springs is just under 30 minutes away, where there is ample access to artisan restaurants and eclectic boutiques. On Thursday nights Palm Springs hosts VillageFest and the town comes alive. Artists line the streets, shops stay open late and visitors from all parts create a wonderful people-watching experience. In addition, the Palm Springs Museum offers free admission from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday nights. Visiting the galleries is an excellent way to broaden your vacation activities without spending a dime.

Take your Indio vacation to the skies! Just a short distance into the mountains is the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The aerial tram rotates as it climbs so that you can enjoy the view from all directions as it takes you 8,500 feet into the mountains. From the top you can see a spectacular panorama of the barren desert, patches of snow and towering trees. Bring a sweater because the temperature can be much cooler at the top. There are winding walking trails so you can wander once you've arrived. If you want to grab a bite to eat before you take the journey back down the mountain there are a couple of restaurant options that have large viewing windows so that you can continue to enjoy the grand vista.

For an experience closer to the ground, be sure to spend some of your Indio vacation visiting Indian Canyons. Full of trails to explore and even a hidden waterfall, this park is greatly enriched by Native American history and caters to the naturalist, the historian and the explorer. On the weekends guided hikes are offered at select times so you can trek into the desert and learn about the local plant and animal life. The trails are open every day of the week, so bring your walking shoes and a bottle of water and get ready to explore. To truly immerse yourself in the region's offering of nature, pair a visit to Indian Canyons with a scenic drive through Joshua Tree National Park where you can see Joshua Trees and a variety of other types of desert flora. We would definitely recommend taking a day and driving through this beautiful National Park.”

Your WorldMark Indio resort is also an excellent base-camp for day trips to other well-known cities in California. San Diego and Los Angeles are both roughly three hours from the resort. However, you don't have to travel far for some great entertainment and fun. The Fantasy Springs and Agua Caliente casinos are both less than 30 minutes from the resort.
