Bringing Pets to Disneyland

There are so many reasons why you would consider bringing pets to Disneyland. Sometimes you can't find anyone to babysit, and sometimes you just can't bear to be separated!

Luckily, you can bring your cat or dog with you to Disneyland!

You are allowed to bring your cat or dog with you on the tram from the Mickey and Friends parking structure, but unfortunately (fortunately?), your pet will not be able to go on any of the rides with you, or even walk around the Parks.

Disneyland has a Kennel Club where you can board your pet for the day. And it's really clean!

You'll find the Kennel Club just to the right as soon as you enter Disneyland. They open a half an hour before the Park opens, and close a half an hour after the Park does.

When bringing pets to Disneyland, be sure to get there early since availability is first-come, first-served; the Kennel Club does not take reservations.

The price of a day's boarding is $20 per pet. You can't leave your pets there overnight (and you can't bring them at all to the Disneyland Resort).

You can drive right to the Kennel and park in their 20-minute free parking while you board your pet.

The Kennel Club can't just take any dog or cat; they have specific rules to ensure everyone's safety.

Bringing a cat over four months old? You'll have to bring in a vaccination certificate to prove that your cat has been vacinated against rabies, calcivirus, rhinotracheitus, and panleulaopenia.

Bringing a dog over four months old? You'll have to bring in a vaccination certificate to prove that your dog has been vacinated against rabies, distemper, and hepatitis.

The kennels are large metal cages. Even larger dogs have plenty of room to stand up, move, and stretch.

The Kennel Club is not like a doggy babysitter like you might use at home. You will be required to place your pet within the kennel, and you will have to remove your pet from the kennel at the end of the day. The employees are not allowed to touch your pets, so they won't be able to take care of this for you, which is probably for the best if your pet hasn't been kenneled before and would feel uneasy with strangers.

The staff will likely ask you to return every three to five hours to check up on your pet. They have a little astroturf area where you can walk your dog and let it go potty.

(Please note that the staff won't be able to help your pet go potty. You'll need to return to look after this yourself.)

Bring food for your pet. The staff will feed him at your specified times. They'll also make sure your pet has water.

Bring your pet's favorite toys, and a nice big blanket. Sometimes blankets are available, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

While the best alternative to bringing pets to Disneyland is to figure out a way for your pet to stay home, with a friend, relative, or even the kid across the street. But, if you have no other options, you'll be glad to know that Disneyland can accommodate your pet!
